Muscle Energy Techniques CEU
The Muscle Energy Technique (MET) course is designed for healthcare professionals seeking to enhance their manual therapy skills through the application of MET. This technique is a form of osteopathic manipulative treatment that involves the voluntary contraction of a patient's muscles against a counterforce applied by the practitioner. MET is used to improve musculoskeletal function and alleviate pain by mobilizing joints, stretching tight muscles and fascia, and improving circulation.
Course Dates: November 3rd-5th, 2:00-6:00 pm, 12-hour CEUs
Course Objectives: By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
Understand the principles and physiological basis of Muscle Energy Technique.,
Identify indications and contraindications for the use of MET.,
Perform a comprehensive assessment to determine the suitability of MET for various, musculoskeletal conditions.
Apply MET to specific regions of the body, including the cervical, thoracic, lumbar spine, pelvis, and extremities.
Integrate MET into a broader treatment plan for patients with acute and chronic, musculoskeletal issues.
Evaluate the effectiveness of MET and adjust techniques based on patient response.

Sports Massage

In sports massage, we cater to the specific needs of athletes or athletes. Sports massage draws on specific manual techniques from other modalities and styles, such as Deep Tissue, Trigger Point Therapy, Neuromuscular Therapy, Myofascial Release, and even techniques from Physical Therapy and Physiotherapy such as IASTM, Cupping (Myofascial Decompression), PNF Stretching, Joint Mobilizations and Muscle Energy Techniques.
Course objectives:
-Perform basic assessment and needs analysis for different athletes
-Explain and understand the difference between Pre, Post, and maintenance sessions
-Learn and practice various techniques including PNF stretching, IASTM, and unique soft tissue mobilizations founded in kinesiology principles
-Learn to appropriately apply KT Tape for various sporting injuries

Nerve Mobilization for Massage Therapists

This 3-hour continuing education class introduces massage therapists to the fundamentals of nerve entrapments and neural mobility. Participants will learn how to identify common signs of neural irritation and explore hands-on techniques such as nerve flossing and nerve tensioning. Myotherapy (Deep Tissue)
The Deep Tissue course teaches therapists how to access deeper layers of myofascial tissue using applied kinesiology and anatomy. The goal of deep tissue therapy is to reduce hypertonicity of over-stressed tissue and facilitate recovery of repetitive strain injuries. This course is great for sports therapists and those who work with injuries. Course will be held at Avalon School of Massage Therapy on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 2-6pm.

Massage Techniques for Migraines & Headaches
Part of Avalon Massage School’s Advanced Techniques Series, This 2-hour hands-on class is designed for massage therapists looking to enhance their skills in working with clients suffering from migraines and tension headaches. Participants will learn targeted techniques to release muscle tightness and address trigger points commonly associated with headache pain. The course will cover key muscular contributors, including the sub occipitals, trapezius, SCM, and temporalis, along with practical applications to improve client outcomes. Gain effective, evidence-informed strategies to help clients find relief and reduce headache frequency through focused bodywork.
